Vessels

My exploration of the vessel form began in the late 90's when I accidentally damaged a small ceramic bottle and became intrigued by the dismantled form. Inspired by parallels between human and animal architecture, my vessels seemed to erode and transform, sometimes revealing an unusual interior structure. By the year 2000 I abandoned this creative thread for other projects, later realizing that some of the work in subsequent years was related to my early vessels. This motivated me to revisit the vessel in 2007. Serving as a sculptural motif rather than a functional object, the vessel provides an endless array of possibilities to play with.
