Reattachment

In 2008, Chicago composer Dan Wallace requested an image aesthetically similar to Timekeeper (a 2007 hybrid piece made with medical scans) for the cover of his new album Reattachment. I asked if he had any of his own X-Rays, and he provided an MRI scan of his head. I began this piece by digitally reversing the life-size medical scan and then printing it on watercolor paper. I continued to work by hand with the image of the head as a foundation for drawing and painting. The final piece is an interpretation of the title song Reattachment.
